ER Doctor for International Humanitarian Missions

About the role

The Emergency Doctor will lead the Emergency Service on international humanitarian missions, ensuring high‑quality patient care from admission to discharge while training local staff.

Key responsibilities

• Provide diagnosis, treatment and triage in line with MSF protocols for out‑patient and in‑patient care.
• Supervise patient flow, monitor daily progress, and decide on discharge or transfer in collaboration with other physicians.
• Manage medication and equipment distribution, maintain hygiene standards, and ensure infection‑control measures.
• Collect and analyse clinical data, report complications, and uphold professional confidentiality.
• Lead the multidisciplinary team, organise shifts, and participate directly in emergencies when needed.

Required profile

• Medical degree with a specialty in Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, or ICU/REA.
• At least 2 years experience as an ER or ICU physician.
• Fluent English (B2+) and Spanish (C1+); French is a plus.
• Commitment to MSF principles and ability to work in cross‑cultural, high‑stress environments.

Required skills

• Computer literacy: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet browsing.
• Knowledge of MSF medical protocols and universal precautions.
