About the role

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist will coordinate the Ecology, Hygiene and Industrial Safety programs at BASF's Altamira site. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with legal, corporate and association requirements related to waste handling, environmental monitoring, and industrial safety.

Key responsibilities

• Administer legal requirements for safety, water, air, soil, hazardous waste and special waste handling.
• Prepare and submit compliance reports to authorities such as SEMARNAT, CONAGUA, STPS, Protección Civil, SEDUMA and local municipalities.
• Coordinate EHS programs for general services, dispersions and engineering plastics.
• Advise on waste management practices and oversee environmental monitoring activities.
• Ensure alignment with federal, state and municipal regulations and corporate EHS objectives.

Required profile

• Degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Safety, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of Mexican environmental and occupational regulations (SEMARNAT, CONAGUA, STPS, etc.).
• Experience in an industrial setting, preferably within the chemical sector.
• Ability to prepare technical reports and communicate effectively with regulatory agencies.
