Junior Design & Release Engineer – Powertrain (Engine)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Design & Release Engineer to join our Powertrain Systems team in Mexico City. In this entry‑level position you will support the lifecycle management, packaging and structural release of engine and drivetrain components for a new mid‑engine vehicle platform, balancing tight packaging constraints with performance targets.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with CAD designers to optimise powertrain packaging, engine mounts and clearances using SolidWorks, CATIA V5 or Siemens NX.
• Maintain component Bill of Materials and drive Engineering Change Notices through the PLM system (Teamcenter, Enovia, etc.).
• Work with CAE engineers to review FEA results for fatigue, durability and NVH on brackets, mounts and exhaust routing.
• Support Design Verification Plans and conduct DFMEA to mitigate risks before prototyping.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, styling, purchasing and Tier‑1 suppliers to meet performance, cost and weight goals.
• Track project timelines using Gantt charts or Agile workflows to meet vehicle development milestones.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics or related engineering.
• 0‑3 years of engineering experience or equivalent leadership in collegiate automotive competitions (Baja SAE, Formula SAE, etc.).
• Familiarity with automotive quality frameworks such as APQP, PPAP and 8D Root‑Cause Analysis.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (casting, stamping, machining) and PLM ecosystems.

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and CAE principles.

• Basic knowledge of casting, stamping and machining processes.
