Legal Counsel – Contracts & Compliance (Mexico)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Legal Counsel to join our team in Mexico. The role focuses on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of contracts while ensuring compliance with local financial regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and service agreements, including financial contracts.
• Maintain ongoing compliance with Mexican financial regulations issued by CNBV, CONDUSEF, and Banxico, covering AML/CFT, PEP screening, and internal policies.
• Manage corporate governance documents such as bylaws, board and shareholder meeting minutes, and powers of attorney.
• Advise on product structuring, debt restructuring (e.g., GICSA bonds), and financial instruments like mutual funds.
• Assist in the recovery of delinquent credit accounts, including reviewing collection processes and potential litigation.
• Handle government communications, regulatory filings, and support business expansion activities.
• Research and analyze industry regulations, prepare internal summaries, and provide actionable compliance recommendations.
• Implement company internal rules, policies, and procedures and perform other legal or compliance tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• Law degree with a valid professional license; J.D. or Master’s in Corporate/Financial Law preferred.
• 2–5 years of legal experience, preferably in the financial sector (banking, SOFOM, fintech).
• Familiarity with CNBV and CONDUSEF portals is a plus.
• Fluency in English and Spanish; Chinese proficiency is a plus.
