Manufacturing Design Engineer (CAD & DFM) – AI Training

About the role

We are seeking a Manufacturing Design Engineer to support a project that improves how advanced AI systems understand mechanical design and production‑ready workflows. The role is remote, part‑time and focuses on creating and reviewing parametric CAD models, drawings and technical documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Create and modify parametric 3D models of mechanical parts and assemblies using FreeCAD or a comparable CAD platform.
• Produce manufacturing‑ready drawings with GD&T and tolerance specifications.
• Design components for CNC machining, sheet metal, plastics, and injection molding.
• Review CAD models for dimensional accuracy and manufacturability.
• Perform tolerance stack‑up analysis and basic design validation.
• Prepare assembly instructions and technical reference documentation.
• Identify design issues and recommend practical improvements.
• Revise models and documentation based on technical feedback.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience designing mechanical components for manufacturing.
• Strong proficiency with FreeCAD or another parametric CAD platform.
• Hands‑on experience producing production‑ready parts, assemblies and engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis and Design for Manufacturing principles.
• Experience designing for at least two of the following: CNC machining, sheet metal, plastics, injection molding.
