Primary Engineer – High Voltage Substation Design

About the role

The Primary Engineer will lead and supervise a team responsible for the technical design of high‑voltage projects such as Flexible AC Transmission Systems, STATCOMs and Synchronous Condensers. This senior position focuses on primary substation engineering, delivering detailed designs that meet project schedules and customer requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop design criteria for substations and switchyards, including one‑line, auxiliary diagrams, layout, elevation, trench, conduit, and grounding drawings.
• Support 3D design for proposals and conceptual pricing studies.
• Perform electrical calculations for cable ampacity, grounding, lightning, illumination and station auxiliary loads.
• Create equipment specifications and detailed bills of materials.
• Produce conceptual layouts for HVDC and SVC projects.
• Collaborate with marketing and project teams, ensuring engineering deliverables meet schedule targets and communicating risks to the Project Manager.

Required profile

• University degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Six or more years of experience in primary electrical design for high‑voltage substations.
• Knowledge of ANSI standards; IEC standards are a plus.
• Fluent English with strong communication and teamwork skills.
