Product Development Engineer

About the role

Join Ford of Mexico as a Product Development Engineer focused on automotive seat systems. You will lead the design, integration, and delivery of complete seating solutions that enhance comfort, craftsmanship, and safety from concept through vehicle launch.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end design and engineering delivery of automotive seating systems across the full product development lifecycle.
• Drive cross‑functional deliverables to meet performance, quality, weight, and cost targets at each program gateway.
• Manage financial and technical metrics, including cost status, weight optimization, and supplier sourcing packages.
• Coordinate tooling, component development, and schedule alignment with global supply partners.
• Provide hands‑on technical support during prototype, pre‑production, and final assembly phases.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and structured problem‑solving to resolve system‑level engineering and manufacturing issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in automotive product engineering, component design, or systems integration.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the full vehicle product development lifecycle and participation in a vehicle launch.
• Strong project‑management abilities, including timing plans, issue tracking, and cross‑functional coordination.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear technical articulation.
