Product Engineer 3 – Pneumatic Valves for Railway Braking

About the role

The Mechanical Product Engineer will act as the local expert for pneumatic valve products used in railway braking systems. You will provide technical support to manufacturing and quality teams, drive product improvements, and ensure compliance with design specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update DFMEA and support PFMEA activities.
• Collaborate with Advance Manufacturing, Quality, and Plant Engineers to implement required modifications.
• Build pilot products for validation testing and perform tolerance stack and GD&T analyses.
• Create and coordinate Product Quality Audits (PQAs) and support cross‑functional problem‑solving.
• Develop manufacturing processes that meet product design requirements.
• Coordinate activities with suppliers, customers, and internal engineering teams.
• Stop production lines when quality defects are identified.
• Travel to KBRNA locations to work with other engineering groups.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in a structured environment.
• At least 3 years of product responsibility with exposure to production facilities.
• Experience inspecting printed circuit boards and wire harnesses.
• Strong knowledge of rail braking systems and pneumatics (preferred).
• Familiarity with safety, 5S, and Agile/Scrum work environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with DFMEA, PFMEA, and continuous improvement tools.
• CAD expertise and ability to read 2D drawings.
• Root‑cause analysis techniques (Six Sigma, Shainin, etc.).
• Product Data Management/PLM systems (Windchill preferred).
• GD&T and stack‑up analysis.
• Engineering document control and release processes.
• Basic SAP knowledge (a plus).
