Project Buyer

About the role

The Project Buyer supports the project team throughout the product development lifecycle, ensuring that all purchasing activities are aligned with project goals and quality, cost, delivery (QCD) targets. Working closely with the Project Manager, the buyer drives the sourcing plan, supplier selection and contract execution from early design to serial production.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in project meetings (e.g., WOOOM) and lead all purchasing‑related tasks such as NPA, PRKF, sourcing plan, PSC, PMC, IAR, TOGO, FDPR, ISVA, SOP.
• Prepare and confirm sourcing plans, define PTM commitments and manage pre‑SoCo (RFQ) and SoCo (award) processes.
• Select supplier bid‑lists, identify critical parts, and coordinate supplier design reviews to capture improvements and ensure compliance with Valeo requirements.
• Assess supplier risk (capacity, technical, quality, financial) and propose mitigation actions recorded in PuMa.
• Execute RFQ and auction processes using PuMa and live/online auction tools, and update sourcing milestones.
• Collaborate with productivity buyers to forecast purchasing indices, create early open orders in SAP, and drive productivity action plans.
• Maintain all project and supplier documentation in PuMa and ensure proper hand‑over to serial production.

Required profile

• Proven experience in project‑based purchasing or procurement within an industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of sourcing strategies, supplier risk assessment and contract management.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering, project management and commodity teams.
• Excellent communication skills to coordinate design reviews and stakeholder sign‑offs.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PuMa (project purchasing platform).
• Hands‑on experience with SAP for order creation.
• Execution of RFQ processes and management of live or online auctions.
• Supplier risk analysis and mitigation planning.
