Public Information Marketing Intern – UNIC Mexico

About the role

The United Nations Department of Global Communication is seeking a motivated intern to support its United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Mexico City. This full‑time, six‑month unpaid internship offers hands‑on experience in communications, public information, and advocacy across Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing a communications plan for the UN Mexico Results Report, creating human‑interest stories, news articles, and bulletins.
• Support the promotion of the SDG Book Club (Mexico Chapter) with publishers, authors, schools, and community groups.
• Contribute to the design and rollout of an Information Integrity plan aligned with UN priorities.
• Monitor misinformation trends in Mexico and flag potential reputational risks.
• Participate in inter‑agency initiatives to combat misinformation and hate speech, including work related to the Declaration on Information Integrity on Climate Change and the FIFA World Cup 2026.
• Maintain a database of communities of practice linked to the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
• Help conduct a needs assessment of UN Communications Group capacities for results reporting and information‑integrity activities.
• Create public‑information content for web, social media, and media outlets, aligned with UN International Days and flagship reports.

Required profile

• Available to work full‑time (35 hours/week) on‑site in Mexico City for a six‑month period.
• Eligible for the United Nations Internship Programme.
