Quality Manager - Aerospace Electric Propulsion

About the role

Nidec Aerospace, a joint venture between Nidec and Embraer focused on aircraft electrification, is looking for a technical Quality Manager in Reynosa, Mexico. The role oversees the daily operations of the Quality Department, supporting the manufacture of electric propulsion systems for battery-powered aircraft, and leads quality engineers, technicians and inspectors.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the quality department across all shifts, including engineers, auditors and technicians
• Ensure incoming, in-process and final inspections follow established procedures and oversee nonconforming material handling and records
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, AS9120, internal QMS procedures and customer requirements, and lead internal audits while supporting external ones
• Maintain calibration, testing equipment and quality tools
• Drive root cause analysis, CAPA, lean methodologies and Six Sigma, and partner with manufacturing, engineering and supply chain to reduce defects
• Train, coach and evaluate quality staff, manage staffing levels and handle customer quality complaints and supplier quality requests (SCARs)

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial engineering, quality or manufacturing
• 5+ years in supplier quality or quality engineering in a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace or propulsion
• 3+ years of managerial experience
• Spanish and English proficiency; willingness to travel domestically and internationally, sometimes on short notice

Required skills

• Proficiency in 8D, Six Sigma, SPC, Control Plan and FMEA
• Understanding of GD&T and measurement tools such as CMMs, calipers, micrometers and optical comparators
• Preferred: AS9145 APQP-PPAP training and familiarity with QMS standards
