R&D Mechanical Engineer

About the role

As an R&D Mechanical Engineer you will drive innovation for high‑voltage products, turning concepts into manufacturable solutions. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure that designs meet performance, cost and reliability targets throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop complex mechanical modules and components from prototype to series production.
• Define and execute qualification and validation tests for high‑voltage substations, including first‑article inspection parameters.
• Analyse test results, identify improvement opportunities and work with quality and testing teams to implement enhancements.
• Develop autonomous problem‑solving solutions and escalate critical issues to project management when needed.
• Support global production ramp‑up, ensuring a smooth transition from development to manufacturing while complying with EHS, quality and management systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in product design and development, preferably for electrical or high‑voltage equipment.
• Professional proficiency in English and/or German.
• Willingness to travel up to 20 % domestically and internationally.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Creo (ProE) for 3D mechanical design.
• Experience using PLM Agile for product lifecycle management.
