Senior Corporate Counsel – Legal Advisor

About the role

As a Senior Corporate Counsel at Caterpillar Inc., you will act as a strategic legal advisor, providing expert guidance on commercial, corporate and real‑estate matters to support business objectives and mitigate risk. You will work closely with management and cross‑functional teams to interpret complex legal issues, develop practical recommendations, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Advise management and business stakeholders on commercial, corporate and real‑estate legal matters, delivering clear, business‑oriented guidance.
• Provide legal support to one or more business divisions, coordinating with internal legal teams and external counsel as needed.
• Research, analyze and interpret complex legal and regulatory issues affecting operations and recommend appropriate actions.
• Draft, review, negotiate and revise commercial agreements, corporate documents, policies and other legal materials.
• Identify, assess and help mitigate legal, regulatory and operational risks through proactive guidance.
• Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders on strategic initiatives and operational decisions from a legal perspective.
• Assist in managing disputes, claims, investigations or other sensitive legal matters, coordinating with relevant parties and external advisors.
• Contribute to the improvement of legal processes, templates and policies to enhance consistency and efficiency.
• Communicate legal concepts and risks clearly to non‑legal audiences.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer licensed to practice law in Mexico.
• Advanced proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Demonstrated expertise in commercial, corporate and real‑estate legal matters.
