Senior Donor Communications Officer

About the role

The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is looking for a Senior Donor Communications Officer based in Mexico or Argentina. The officer shapes donor communications for the Latin America Region and its Country Business Units and Iconic Places, turning conservation and fundraising priorities into clear, compelling, donor-centered narratives. The role advises stakeholders on how to communicate TNC's conservation strategies, results, funding needs and institutional priorities to philanthropic audiences, and acts as a senior support to the Director of Donor Communications.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Director to develop regional donor communications strategy, priorities, work plans, messaging frameworks and content plans aligned with Development and conservation goals.
• Advise senior stakeholders on donor positioning, narrative strategy and audience needs, and represent Donor Communications in regional, global and cross-functional initiatives.
• Lead complex, multi-country donor communications initiatives from strategy through delivery, managing objectives, audiences, timelines, reviews and risks.
• Provide functional oversight of editorial quality, multilingual content, major and principal gift communications, workflows, tools, standards, training and vendor relationships.
• Lead high-priority communications for cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, campaigns and major or principal gifts, producing content in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
• Oversee funding proposals, concept notes, donor trip materials, stewardship reports, campaign collateral, presentations, impact reports and leadership messages.
• Mentor communications and development colleagues across the region.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, philanthropy, international affairs, conservation or a related field, with at least five to seven years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience developing communications strategies and donor-facing fundraising materials for cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, campaigns and major gifts.
• Experience advising senior stakeholders, leading cross-functional regional or multi-country initiatives, and working across departments, cultures and geographies with discretion over sensitive information.
• Professional fluency in English and Spanish, and advanced proficiency in Portuguese.

Desired qualifications

• More than seven years of progressively responsible experience in donor communications, fundraising communications or strategic communications.
• Experience supporting major or principal gift fundraising, institutional campaigns, donor visits and stewardship initiatives.
• Experience developing regional or multi-country communications for Latin American and international donor markets, and acting as deputy or senior adviser to a communications or Development leader.
• Familiarity with donor communications trends, visual storytelling, content management systems, project management platforms and AI-assisted content tools.
