Senior Interior Design and Release Engineer (Soft Trim)

About the role

ALTEN Mexico, an engineering company serving clients in automotive, energy, aeronautics, banking, telecom and rail, is looking for a Design Engineer – Interior (Soft Trim) in Saltillo, Coahuila. The engineer develops vehicle interior components, manages deliverables, works with suppliers and uses PLM/CAD tools. The position suits candidates with 1+ years of experience and English at B2-C1 level.

Key responsibilities

• Synthesize program requirements (financial, weight, complexity) aligned with the thematic style.
• Evaluate advanced topics and escalate incompatibilities.
• Define part breakdown and assembly sequence.
• Develop source packages (PBOM, eBOM, technical sheets, DVP&R).
• Support technical reviews and supplier evaluations.
• Oversee master section development and 3D releases.
• Manage design practice analysis and critical issue resolution, keeping issue logs and presenting them weekly.
• Conduct manufacturing and assembly feasibility studies.
• Create technical sheets and DVP&R for new components.

Required profile

• 1+ years of experience in automotive interior design or development.
• Proven experience as a DRE, DRE support or Product Engineer.
• Knowledge of soft plastics (rubber, foams, vinyl, elastomers, EPP) and fabrics (non-woven, acoustic, insulators).
• English at B2-C1 level.
• Preferred: experience with headliner, seats or NVH, vehicle launches or global programs, and RFQ, cost and sourcing experience.

Required skills

• CATIA and/or 3DX (3D experience)
• GD&T, tolerances, variation analysis and parametric design
• DFMEA, DVPR, DFMEA/DFA, injection molding and tooling
• PLM systems, BOM management and engineering release processes
• Preferred: CAE, stress analysis, DFA/DFS, packaging, clearances and craftsmanship
