Senior Patent Counsel – Telecommunications SEPs

About the role

Nokia is looking for a motivated and experienced patent professional to join the team responsible for cellular Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) used in litigation worldwide. This senior position combines deep technical knowledge with strategic legal expertise in a fast‑paced, global environment.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and prepare patents for litigation, including validity and essentiality analysis.
• Prosecute litigation assets and prepare legal actions across multiple jurisdictions.
• Manage infringement and validity matters in global patent litigation proceedings.
• Coordinate, guide, and review work performed by external counsel.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of hands‑on experience in patent business at a law firm and/or in‑house.
• Engineering degree in Telecommunications, Physics, Mathematics or equivalent, combined with a European Patent Attorney or law qualification.
• Strong understanding of 3GPP technologies and the SEP licensing framework.
• Excellent communication, analytical abilities and a proactive, result‑oriented mindset.
• Proven track record of resolving complex issues and executing strategy in high‑pressure environments.
