Systems Specialist – Operational Support

About the role

The Systems Specialist ensures the stability and performance of AutoZone's operational IT environment. This role combines hands‑on system maintenance with functional requirement gathering, training, and vendor coordination to support business groups.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, upgrade and support existing hardware, software, databases and networks to meet service level agreements.
• Elicit, document and communicate functional requirements for development, architecture and operations teams.
• Implement hardware and software changes, including installation of power, cabling and other infrastructure.
• Deploy and monitor system health tools, ensuring SLA compliance.
• Negotiate with vendors to secure timely delivery of required components.
• Provide training to operators to improve efficiency and customer service quality.
• Serve as a point of contact for business partners, delivering technical support and guidance.
• Mentor and develop less‑experienced staff, fostering technical growth.
• Lead functional/technical requirements gathering and project management for mid‑size initiatives.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or specialized courses in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related fields are a plus.
• Two to three years of demonstrated experience in system operations, support or a similar technical role.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical and domain expertise.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage medium‑size projects.
