Technical Design Expert – Mexico (Water Infrastructure)

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking a Technical Design Expert to lead all Mexico‑based engineering and design activities for the WIFA Long Term Water Augmentation Fund Project. This senior position will ensure that studies, concepts, and detailed designs are technically sound, constructible, operable, and fully aligned with program requirements and cross‑border infrastructure interfaces.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate feasibility studies, concept designs, technical memoranda, and design deliverables for water sourcing, conveyance, intake/discharge systems, and treatment/desalination concepts.
• Ensure all designs comply with project technical standards, applicable codes, and best practices.
• Serve as the primary technical interface between Mexico‑based design teams and Arizona‑based WIFA program leadership, maintaining consistent assumptions and design criteria.
• Integrate multidisciplinary inputs from process, marine, geotechnical, hydraulic, and operations specialists.
• Lead formal design reviews, technical workshops, and quality‑assurance activities.

Required profile

• Engineering degree with extensive experience in water infrastructure design and implementation.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and manage cross‑border technical coordination.
• Strong understanding of regulatory expectations and lifecycle performance considerations.
• Excellent communication skills to align U.S. and Mexico workstreams.
