Vendor Planner

About the role

The Vendor Planner at Caterpillar will analyze, plan, and coordinate material and inventory flows across the supply chain. The role ensures material availability, optimizes inventory levels, and supports production, distribution, and customer service objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute inventory and replenishment plans to guarantee material availability while minimizing excess stock.
• Analyze demand trends, inventory positions, supply constraints, and capacity requirements.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Distribution Centers, and Suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
• Monitor supply chain performance metrics and identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
• Maintain planning parameters in ERP/MRP systems, including safety stock, lead times, reorder points, and replenishment strategies.
• Evaluate inventory risks, shortages, excess, and obsolescence, creating mitigation plans as needed.
• Support production and distribution planning to meet customer demand and service level targets.
• Generate forecasts, inventory analyses, and planning reports for business decisions.
• Investigate supply chain disruptions and implement corrective actions.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives focused on inventory optimization and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
• Intermediate‑level conversational English.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP/MRP systems for inventory planning and replenishment.
