Accountant I – Entry Level Accounting Role

About the role

With minimal supervision, the Accountant I will support a range of intermediate accounting activities, including month‑end journal entries, sub‑ledger reconciliations and the preparation of financial reports. The role ensures accurate balance‑sheet reconciliations and fosters professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Complete monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities, general‑ledger entries and reconciliations for multiple entities.
• Record intercompany transactions globally and ensure proper eliminations.
• Perform monthly reconciliations, identify discrepancies and work with other departments to resolve them.
• Maintain an audit trail of analyses, calculations and approvals in local work papers.
• Conduct variance analysis and prepare detailed SG&A expense analytics each month.
• Assist internal and external auditors by providing journal entry explanations and supporting documentation.
• Meet or exceed departmental performance metrics and document process procedures.
• Participate in related projects and continuous learning of finance and accounting technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; 0‑2 years of accounting or finance experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and ability to follow detailed procedures.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Proactive attitude toward process improvement and independent issue resolution.

Required skills

• Intermediate knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
• Competence with Microsoft Office and Windows‑based applications.
• Practical experience with accounting systems; Microsoft Dynamics AX is a plus.
• Ability to perform variance analysis and maintain audit documentation.
