Design Engineer II – Aerospace

About the role

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Design Engineer II to develop innovative aerospace component designs that meet safety, ergonomics, quality and productivity standards. The role works closely with manufacturing, quality and operations teams to deliver optimized solutions for aircraft structures.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver design engineering solutions following Design Manuals and best practices for aircraft components.
• Apply material knowledge to ensure compliance with safety, performance and reliability requirements.
• Support manufacturing and operations by aligning designs with engineering specifications.
• Lead and participate in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities to resolve quality issues.
• Propose and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality and process efficiency.
• Innovate and optimize designs for performance, manufacturability and cost‑effectiveness.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure timely delivery of design outputs.

Required profile

• University degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in product design and development.
• Advanced English proficiency (spoken and written).
• Proven experience creating 3D structural models using CATIA V5.
• Knowledge and application of GD&T for precise dimensioning and tolerance.

• Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Experience with PLM systems such as Enovia or Teamcenter (preferred)
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Knowledge of composite materials (preferred)
