Indirect Tax Specialist – Mexico

About the role

The Tax Analyst will support GTBC México’s tax compliance and reporting obligations in Mexico, focusing on indirect taxes such as VAT and excise duties. You will work both independently and as part of a team to ensure accurate filing, reconciliation, and regulatory monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file all Mexican indirect tax returns (monthly, quarterly, annual) accurately and on time.
• Reconcile VAT accounts, reporting input and output VAT.
• Monitor changes in Mexican indirect tax legislation and assess their impact.
• Maintain knowledge of VAT rules for cross‑border transactions, including imports, exports, and services.
• Assist with indirect tax audits and respond to tax authority inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with e‑invoicing (CFDI) and other digital tax regulations.
• Support tax cash‑back claim documentation and filings.
• Assist with annual income tax return preparation and estimated tax payments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Mexican tax accounting, especially indirect taxes.
• Fluency in Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and detail‑orientation skills.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Mexican VAT law and regulations.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with Mexican e‑invoicing platforms and tax compliance software.
