Senior Design Engineer – Aerospace Structures

About the role

Collins Aerospace, part of RTX, is looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join its high‑impact engineering team in Mexicali. You will work on safety‑critical aviation components such as nacelles, thrust reversers, inlets, engine build‑up systems, and fan cowls for commercial and business jets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead root cause analysis and implement engineering solutions for complex technical problems.
• Review and validate deliverables against engineering standards, design requirements, and customer specifications.
• Manage medium‑scale projects, coordinating schedules, resources, and cross‑functional teams.
• Support operations and manufacturing to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
• Conduct RCCA activities and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Provide technical guidance and oversee design best practices.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to drive continuous improvement, risk mitigation, and process optimization.
• Travel up to 20% as required.

Required profile

• STEM degree (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics).
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in product design and development.
• Proven experience creating and modifying 3D models and assemblies for structural components.
• Strong background in root cause analysis and RCCA activities.

Required skills

• CATIA (or equivalent 3D CAD software).
• 3D modeling and assembly design.
• Root cause analysis.
• RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) methodology.
• Compliance with engineering standards and design requirements.
