Shipboard Laundry Manager

About the role

The Shipboard Laundry Manager oversees the daily operation of the laundry facility on a cruise vessel, ensuring that all linen, uniforms, and guest items are cleaned, pressed, and delivered to the appropriate areas on schedule. Reporting to the Executive Housekeeper, this role combines technical oversight with coordination across multiple ship departments.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all laundry activities, including washing, ironing, dry‑cleaning, and storage.
• Maintain equipment functionality, conduct daily inspections, and liaise with engineering for timely repairs.
• Ensure proper sorting of linen, enforce quality controls, and verify finished products meet standards.
• Schedule laundry cycles for special items such as theater costumes and top‑suite uniforms.
• Manage chemical supplies, monitor budget limits, and submit requisitions.
• Collaborate with the Executive Housekeeper, Senior Deck Supervisor, and other departments to guarantee seamless linen distribution.
• Oversee cleaning and sanitation of work areas and equipment.

Required profile

• Technical proficiency with laundry machinery and processes.
• Strong judgment for corrective actions and program improvements.
• Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions.
• Problem‑solving skills for guest‑related issues.
• Experience in coordinating multi‑departmental operations on a ship or similar hospitality environment.
