Value Optimization Engineer – Interiors

About the role

We are looking for a Value Optimization Engineer specialized in automotive interiors to drive cost‑reduction and value‑improvement initiatives. The role is fully remote and focuses on balancing cost savings with performance, quality, and design intent across interior systems.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze interior components such as trim, cockpit, seating, consoles, plastics, and soft trims to uncover cost‑optimization opportunities.
• Lead value engineering/value analysis (VA/VE) activities throughout design and manufacturing phases.
• Collaborate with design, purchasing, manufacturing, and supplier teams to implement cost‑effective solutions.
• Perform cost breakdowns, benchmarking, and should‑cost analyses.
• Recommend alternative materials, processes, and design changes to lower product cost.
• Support RFQ processes and supplier negotiations with technical cost insights.
• Track, report, and monitor cost‑saving KPIs and project status.
• Ensure compliance with quality, performance, and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Automotive Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in cost engineering, value optimization, or product engineering, preferably in interiors.
• Strong knowledge of interior component manufacturing (injection molding, textiles, foam, assembly).
• Experience with cost analysis tools, should‑costing, and benchmarking.
• Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings (CATIA, NX or similar).
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
