Test Engineer – Mechanical Systems & Product Qualification

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Test Engineer to support our Supply Chain Outsourcing and Product Qualification initiatives. The role focuses on component testing, supplier collaboration, and design validation for mechanical systems, especially chiller components.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze component assembly designs and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using SAP.
• Initiate and manage design changes and deviations, ensuring timely implementation.
• Drive continuous‑improvement projects aimed at design simplification and reduced production cycle time.
• Review supplier specifications and manufacturing processes, providing feasibility, quality, and reliability assessments.
• Develop and execute test programs to verify performance and reliability of chiller components and systems.
• Coordinate qualification programs with suppliers and third‑party test labs, documenting and reporting results.
• Apply manufacturing‑process knowledge to support design‑for‑manufacturability principles.
• Lead cross‑functional projects and communicate status to internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide technical support to Materials, Quality Control, Engineering, and Safety teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (associate degree with extensive experience also considered).
• Experience with product design and mechanical components such as compressors, fans, motors, drives, heat exchangers, valves, wiring, sheet metal, and piping.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross‑functional teams.
• Familiarity with product testing in both in‑house and third‑party lab environments.
• Basic project‑management experience.

Required skills

• SAP (or similar ERP) for BOM analysis.
• Knowledge of mechanical components: compressors, fans, motors, drives, heat exchangers, valves, wiring, sheet metal, piping.
• Product testing and qualification procedures.
• HVAC/chiller system expertise.
