About the role

The Deputy Counsel supports the Mortgage Banking division by providing day‑to‑day legal advice, drafting contracts, and ensuring compliance with Mexican banking regulations. The role works closely with internal legal teams and external counsel to protect the bank’s reputation and assets.

Key responsibilities

• Provide telephone and email legal advice to Mortgage Banking staff on daily operational matters.
• Draft and review mortgage credit opening contracts and related documentation.
• Analyze documents against regulatory requirements (Credit Institutions Law, Federal Civil Code, etc.) and advise the business.
• Supervise external counsel, escalating issues to senior attorneys as needed.
• Assess risk for business decisions, ensuring compliance with internal policies and applicable laws.
• Prepare internal and external documents containing strategic recommendations for senior counsel review.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a bank or law firm.
• Juris Doctorate or equivalent legal degree.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Mexican banking, civil, and commercial law.
• Strong written and verbal communication in Spanish and English.
• Proven analytical and organizational abilities.
