About the role

The Legal Counsel – Electronic Banking Litigation provides legal advice and support to Citi’s operations in Mexico. Reporting to the Country General Counsel Group Manager, the role ensures compliance with local laws and regulations while helping the business navigate complex litigation matters in the electronic banking sector.

Key responsibilities

• Advise Country Business Management on legal, regulatory and control matters related to Citi’s electronic banking activities.
• Partner with regional product counsel and external law firms to deliver cost‑effective legal solutions.
• Monitor and interpret local legislation, regulatory developments and industry practices that affect the bank’s digital services.
• Support strategic initiatives by providing risk‑based, commercially practical recommendations.
• Coordinate internal and external legal support, ensuring alignment with Citi’s global policies.
• Maintain relationships with local regulators and represent Citi in governance committees.

Required profile

• Law degree and admission to practice law in Mexico.
• Several years of experience handling banking or financial services litigation, preferably in electronic banking.
• Strong understanding of Mexican banking regulations and regulatory bodies.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across business lines and jurisdictions.
