Actuarial Consultant - Property & Casualty

About the role

Oliver Wyman is looking for an Actuarial Consultant to join its growing Property & Casualty Actuarial Consulting Practice in Mexico City. The consultant works as part of a team to independently analyse complex problems and develop workable solutions for self-insured clients, with direct interaction and visibility with clients such as large self-insured corporations, captive insurers, state regulators and P&C insurers.

Key responsibilities

• Focus on loss reserving projects, with additional work in pricing/ratemaking, predictive modelling, economic capital modelling and loyalty rewards programmes
• Join existing projects, take ownership of tasks and ensure seamless client communication
• Review and validate analysts' work, checking technical accuracy and integrity of analyses, templates and exhibits
• Compile, verify and reasonableness-check client data
• Apply actuarial theory to build statistical models
• Prepare and/or oversee production exhibits and written reports
• Assist or lead the preparation of proposals and presentations for prospects
• Attend client meetings and marketing/sales presentations as required

Required profile

• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or a related field
• At least two actuarial exams passed; progress toward ACAS/FCAS preferred
• 4+ years of actuarial experience in the property and casualty industry with P&C clients (self-insured corporations, captives, reinsurers, state regulators)
• Previous consulting experience is a plus
• Willingness to travel as needed for client engagements and business development

Required skills

• Exceptional organisational skills and ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication and relationship-building skills
• Strong command of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• R, SAS, SQL or VBA experience is a plus
