Contractual Lawyer – Legal Counsel

About the role

The Contractual Lawyer provides intermediate‑level legal counsel and support to Citi’s operations in Mexico. Working closely with the Country General Counsel Group Manager, the role ensures that business activities comply with local laws and regulations while delivering commercially practical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Advise Country Business Management on legal, regulatory and control matters affecting Citi’s entities.
• Support strategic initiatives by interpreting relevant statutes, regulations and industry practices.
• Coordinate internal and external legal resources to deliver cost‑effective legal services.
• Develop a deep understanding of Citi’s business lines and associated legal risks in Mexico.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external counsel to achieve coordinated outcomes.
• Maintain relationships with local regulators and monitor regulatory developments.
• Participate in country‑level governance committees such as risk, compliance and legal vehicle management.

Required profile

• Intermediate (mid‑level) legal experience with a solid grounding in Mexican law and financial regulations.
• Strong analytical ability to translate legal risk into business‑oriented advice.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with senior business leaders and regulators.
