Corporate Counsel – Mexico (Legal Generalist)

About the role

This position is an in‑house legal generalist for a leading U.S. insurer, focused on Mexico and potentially broader LATAM operations. The counsel will provide day‑to‑day legal guidance on workforce‑related matters, employment law, corporate issues, and internal investigations, while collaborating closely with U.S. legal teams on cross‑border matters.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on Mexican corporate, labor and employment matters, including employee relations, social security, employment taxes, subcontracting, and regulatory investigations.
• Support interactions with Mexican regulators and authorities, handling inspections, audits, inquiries, and administrative proceedings.
• Collaborate with U.S.‑based and global legal teams on policy alignment, risk mitigation, and cross‑border investigations.
• Identify legal and regulatory risks in Mexico and contribute to training and education for business and HR partners.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience as a practicing attorney in employment, labor, corporate, or related fields.
• Experience serving as in‑house counsel or advising multinational corporate clients.
• Proven ability to conduct and manage complex workplace investigations.
• Experience advising senior business leaders and HR professionals on employment law matters.
• Familiarity with multiple jurisdictions and legal entities within a multinational organization.
• Strong knowledge of Mexican employment and corporate law, preferably within a regulated industry such as insurance or financial services.
