Engineering & Development Design Professional

About the role

OPmobility is seeking an Engineering & Development Design Professional to lead the design of plastic components and modules for sustainable mobility solutions. The role combines product architecture, CAD management, and close collaboration with customers and suppliers to deliver high‑quality, cost‑effective designs.

Key responsibilities

• Define product design and architecture that meet customer quality, weight, recycling, and specification requirements while respecting manufacturing constraints.
• Manage CAD resources, ensuring 3D and 2D activities follow OPmobility Design Standards (PODS) and HSE guidelines.
• Gather technical specifications from customers, analyse feasibility (styling, parting lines, injection, demoulding, painting, assembly, packaging, perceived quality, recycling) and propose solutions to the Engineering Project Manager (EPM).
• Coordinate daily technical information flow with the CAD office and Tier‑2 suppliers, validate incoming CAD files, and keep the 3D/2D data and part attributes up‑to‑date in the TDM database.
• Collaborate with toolmakers and Injection & Tooling Engineers to optimise part design and define tuning zones before tool kick‑off.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of plastic design rules, including shrinkage analysis and demoulding considerations.
• Previous experience as a CAD Engineer, mould engineer or plastic‑parts designer.
• Ability to build and verify products in CAD software and lead both 3D and 2D design activities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA or equivalent).
• Plastic part design, shrinkage analysis, and demoulding expertise.
• Fundamental mechanical design principles.
