Gerente Senior SME de Tratamiento de Aguas Residuales

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Wastewater Treatment to support capital projects, research and brewery operations across several locations in Mexico. The SME will provide expert guidance, strategic planning, process optimisation and innovative solutions for the design, operation and improvement of industrial wastewater treatment facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in wastewater treatment process design, optimisation and troubleshooting.
• Develop and review engineering designs, reports and technical documents.
• Lead regulatory compliance efforts with local, state and federal environmental standards.
• Evaluate and recommend advanced treatment technologies, including biological, chemical and physical processes.
• Support financial development and project planning with technical insights and feasibility assessments.
• Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
• Participate in client meetings, site visits and inspections as required.
• Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, regulators and senior management.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies and regulatory changes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical or Civil Engineering (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
• 12‑15 years of hands‑on experience in wastewater treatment.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
• Leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of conventional and advanced wastewater treatment technologies.
• Familiarity with US and Mexican safety and environmental standards.
• Experience with modelling software and SCADA systems.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred).
• Relevant wastewater operator certifications (a plus).
