Guest Service Officer

About the role

The Guest Service Officer provides friendly, passionate, and committed support to guests onboard a cruise ship. You will actively listen to guest concerns, resolve issues promptly, and ensure a high level of satisfaction throughout their stay.

Key responsibilities

• Assist guests with inquiries, complaints, and special requests, maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
• Handle cash transactions, understand US currency and exchange rates, and operate basic office equipment such as telephones, computers, and copy machines.
• Communicate effectively with guests, department heads, and shipboard staff to negotiate resolutions and solve problems.
• Maintain accurate records of guest interactions and follow up to ensure issues are fully resolved.

Required profile

• Friendly, enthusiastic, and able to work with a sense of humor.
• Strong hospitality mindset with excellent communication, organization, and decision‑making abilities.
• Active listening skills and a commitment to delivering outstanding guest satisfaction.
• Willingness to work onboard for a 5‑6 month period.

Required skills

• Minimum one year of experience in a customer‑contact role within the hotel or related industry.
• At least one year of cash‑handling experience and knowledge of US currency and exchange rates.
• Proficiency in operating telephones, computers, and copy machines.
• Fluent English (reading, writing, speaking) and ability to speak additional languages such as Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Swedish, Norwegian, or Danish.
