Host / Receptionist for Contemporary Japanese Restaurant

About the role

As a Host at Zuma, you will be the first point of contact for guests, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that sets the tone for a memorable dining experience. You will manage guest flow, coordinate seating, and support the front‑of‑house team in a fast‑paced, high‑end Japanese restaurant environment.

Key responsibilities

• Greet guests upon arrival, escort them to their tables, and ensure a positive first impression.
• Manage the waitlist and seating chart, optimizing table turnover and accommodating guest preferences.
• Provide accurate wait‑time estimates and communicate expectations during peak periods.
• Handle phone inquiries, to‑go orders, special requests, and general restaurant information.
• Maintain a tidy host stand, including menus, reservation books, and guest amenities.
• Assist with coat check, bar seating, and directing guests to restrooms as needed.

Required profile

• Passion for culinary experiences, especially Japanese cuisine.
• Friendly, customer‑oriented demeanor with strong communication skills.
• Team player comfortable working in a large, collaborative front‑of‑house team.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Required skills

• Experience with SevenRooms or other reservation systems.
