HVAC Product Engineer

About the role

Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management and building systems, is hiring an HVAC Product Engineer. The role focuses on mechanical product engineering for HVAC equipment and systems, contributing to product design from concept through release, supporting engineering changes and prototypes, and ensuring designs meet performance, manufacturability and documentation requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design and support the development of complete HVAC product solutions, including applied equipment and related mechanical assemblies.
• Prepare and update engineering drawings, BOMs and engineering change documentation.
• Review mechanical design requirements for components such as AHUs, VAVs, FCUs, fans, dampers, diffusers, grills and chilled beams.
• Work with CAD and value engineering teams to develop 3D models and optimise designs for manufacturability.
• Coordinate with product design, production and other stakeholders to move work through design release and implementation.
• Support prototype builds, testing, verification and design improvements.
• Contribute to technical problem-solving, design clarification and product sustenance, and provide support on sheet metal parts, assemblies and documentation.

Required profile

• BE, B.Tech or M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in mechanical system design and development for HVAC products.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with Creo (Creo-Parametric and AutoCAD desired but not required).
• Experience with BOM creation, engineering changes and mechanical drawing release.
• Knowledge of DFMEA and GD&T.
• Nice to have: SAP or other ERP systems for BOM management, exposure to value engineering and prototype testing, and experience on applied HVAC platforms or chiller-related products.
