Interiors Design & Release Engineer - Cockpit

About the role

ALTEN Mexico, a subsidiary of the ALTEN Group, is looking for an Interiors Design and Release Engineer to own the component and system level design, development, validation, timing and production release of cockpit areas. The role covers early validation, design follow-up and the full release of cockpit components.

Key responsibilities

• Own all aspects of early validation and function of cockpit components, and follow up the design so that system and vehicle level functional objectives are met
• Perform component and system level validation testing
• Manage the overall release of components, including the Bill of Materials, CAD drawings and validation testing
• Handle engineering change management, the Design Verification Plan and testing
• Issue engineering change notices, review and approve FMEAs, DVP&Rs, support prototype builds, issue resolution, PPAP and launch production support

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 1 to 3 years of experience, or general knowledge of instrument panels, doors and consoles
• Knowledge of hard plastic processes (extrusion, injection, thermoforming, compression)
• Knowledge of ABS, PP, electronic components and fabrics (leather, cloth, vinyl)
• Experience with supplier management and launch processes, and in the automotive industry
• Advanced English; ability to manage projects and suppliers, solve problems and work cross-functionally

Required skills

• CAD (NX, Catia V5 or similar)
• PLM (Teamcenter, Enovia or others)
• G&D&T, DFMEA, DM/DFA, PPAP, APQP
• Excel, Word, PowerPoint; creation, management and editing of BoMs and eBoMs
• Preferred: Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), reactive chain problem solving, in-plant launch experience, and knowledge of hard trim or seats
