Junior Cyber Defense Engineer – Mexico

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Cyber Defense Engineer to join Randstad’s Nearshore Center in Mexico. In this role you will take ownership of complex cybersecurity alerts, conduct investigations and support the regional cyber defense operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end investigations of advanced security alerts, building on initial triage performed by an external partner.
• Use modern security tools such as EDR, SIEM and SOAR to analyse incidents and develop actionable response plans.
• Maintain continuous communication with outsourced frontline staff and external cyber‑defense segments to ensure knowledge sharing and coordinated action.
• Support local IT teams and information security officers by translating security findings into clear remediation tasks.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by analysing investigations, proposing new playbooks and enhancing detection capabilities.
• Assist vulnerability‑management and threat‑intelligence leads on operational tasks as capacity allows.
• Collaborate with the continuous‑improvement lead to design and refine threat‑modeling and detection programs.
• Participate in CSIRT activities during critical incidents to help restore a secure environment quickly.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to assess security events and make informed decisions.
• Basic understanding of network protocols and traffic analysis.
• Familiarity with the cybersecurity threat landscape and common attack vectors.
• Relevant certification such as CISSP is a plus.

Required skills

• Experience with Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) platforms.
• Proficiency in Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools.
• Knowledge of Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) solutions.
• Threat modeling and detection design.
• Vulnerability management fundamentals.
• Threat intelligence handling.
• Network protocol analysis and traffic inspection.
