Legal Assistant / Paralegal (Remote, Independent Contractor)

About the role

Sterlington PLLC is seeking a highly organized, tech‑savvy Legal Assistant/Paralegal to support a high‑volume transactional aviation practice. This remote, independent‑contractor position focuses on preparing, formatting, and tracking complex deal documents for asset finance and related transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Format, revise, and finalize complex transactional documents using advanced Microsoft Word features.
• Break apart, organize, and manage appended and ancillary documents.
• Oversee document execution processes, including signature pages, execution versions, and closing sets.
• Manipulate PDFs in Adobe Acrobat (merge, split, bookmark, redact, convert) and prepare clean execution‑ready files.
• Maintain organized file structures in SharePoint and NetDocuments.
• Track deal flow and keep structured transaction records up to date.
• Respond quickly to ongoing deal activity and anticipate document needs.

Required profile

• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑performance law‑firm environment.
• Technically proficient, process‑driven, and calm under deadline pressure.
• Highly reliable, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple active transactions simultaneously.
• Willingness to work alongside AI tools and modern workflow solutions.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Word (styles, formatting, document structuring).
• Strong Adobe Acrobat proficiency for PDF manipulation.
• Experience with document management systems, preferably SharePoint and NetDocuments.
