Preschool Teacher Assistant

About the role

The Preschool Teacher Assistant works closely with the lead teacher to create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for young children. The role involves supporting classroom instruction, supervising children throughout the day and helping each child reach their social, emotional and cognitive milestones.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in delivering daily lesson plans, learning activities and educational games aligned with the curriculum.
• Monitor children during classroom activities, playtime, meals and outdoor periods to ensure safety and promote positive behaviour.
• Reinforce classroom rules and support behaviour management, guiding children in developing appropriate social and emotional skills.
• Prepare and organise learning materials, classroom displays and resources to facilitate hands‑on learning.
• Maintain a clean and hazard‑free environment, including sanitising toys, surfaces and equipment.
• Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group support for children needing extra assistance or emotional guidance.
• Observe children’s development and communicate observations or concerns to the lead teacher.
• Assist with daily routines such as arrivals, departures, toileting, meals and rest time, fostering independence.

Required profile

• Enthusiasm for early childhood education and a caring attitude toward children.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the lead teacher and other staff members.
• Strong observation skills to monitor child development and safety.
• Patience and respect when guiding children through routines and social interactions.
