Procurement Specialist - Strategic Buyer

About the role

Dematic is looking for a Procurement Specialist / Strategic Buyer to lead sourcing initiatives for a range of direct materials across North America. The role focuses on cost‑reduction, supplier management and cross‑functional collaboration within a spares‑parts environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead cost‑reduction initiatives through competitive sourcing, value engineering and supplier consolidation.
• Identify and implement sourcing solutions that balance quality, delivery performance and pricing.
• Perform supply‑base risk analyses, define mitigation strategies and keep stakeholders informed.
• Support new project quotation processes and coordinate pricing reviews with cross‑functional teams.
• Partner with Customer Service, Finance, Pricing, Tactical Procurement, Legal, Engineering and Manufacturing to achieve aligned procurement results.
• Collaborate with the Category Lead to research, assess and onboard suppliers; conduct Quarterly Business Reviews with strategic partners.
• Configure SAP sourcing parameters to ensure accurate purchase order issuance.
• Forecast and record savings to meet departmental goals.
• Adhere to KION procurement policies and Dematic’s ethical standards.
• Coordinate with international suppliers across time zones, ensuring responsiveness.
• Communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Leverage data‑driven insights and analytics tools to track key performance metrics.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in direct procurement or commodities sourcing.
• Proficiency with the full sourcing cycle (RFQs, TCO analysis, etc.).
• Experience using SAP for procurement processes.
• APICS CPIM certification preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings.
