Product Engineer – Pneumatic Valves (Level 3)

About the role

The Mechanical Product Engineer will act as the local expert for pneumatic valve products used in railway braking systems. You will support manufacturing and quality teams, drive continuous improvement, and ensure product compliance throughout the production lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update DFMEA and support PFMEA activities.
• Collaborate with Advance Manufacturing, Quality, and Plant Engineers to implement design modifications.
• Build pilot products for validation testing and perform tolerance stack and GD&T analyses.
• Coordinate Product Quality Audits and lead problem‑solving with cross‑functional teams.
• Develop and document manufacturing processes that meet product specifications.
• Interface with suppliers, customers, and internal engineering groups, including travel to KBRNA locations.
• Exercise authority to stop production lines when quality defects are identified.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in a structured environment.
• At least 3 years of product responsibility with exposure to production facilities.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as die‑casting, machining, and stamping.
• Experience with rail braking systems and pneumatics is strongly preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in DFMEA, PFMEA, and continuous‑improvement methodologies (5S, Six Sigma, Shainin).
• Advanced CAD skills and ability to read 2D drawings.
• Expertise in GD&T and stack‑up analysis.
• Familiarity with Product Data Management/PLM tools (Windchill preferred).
• Knowledge of engineering document control and release processes.
• Basic SAP knowledge is a plus.
