R&D Planning Project Manager – R&D Portfolio

About the role

The R&D Planning Project Manager will steer a €1 billion R&D portfolio, delivering high‑quality planning, transparent budgeting, and decision support for the Executive Board. The role combines strategic portfolio management, process excellence, and data‑driven analytics to align R&D investments with corporate strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the global R&D budget cycle and produce scenario‑ready decision documents for senior leadership.
• Steer the R&D portfolio against corporate strategy, identifying opportunities to accelerate, rebalance, or reduce investments.
• Standardise business case logic, improve data governance, and automate planning and reporting processes, including AI‑based solutions.
• Develop dashboards, analytics workflows and data products linked to the central R&D database, ensuring a single source of truth.
• Support strategic initiatives such as the R&D Academy to build capability and best‑practice adoption.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Data/Analytics or a related field (PhD a plus).
• 5–7 years of experience in R&D portfolio management, corporate strategy, controlling, PMO or related areas.
• Experience in energy, industrial technology, aerospace, automotive or management consulting is beneficial.
• Fluent English.
