Regional Communications Officer

About the role

The American Friends Service Committee seeks a Regional Communications Officer to lead narrative‑change efforts across Latin America and the Caribbean. Working remotely with travel throughout the region, you will shape internal and external communications that highlight forced migration and climate‑driven mobility, while supporting human‑rights monitoring and advocacy.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and update the regional communications strategy with a focus on narrative change.
• Design and execute creative communication action plans for community groups, partners, donors, media, and decision‑makers.
• Develop diagnostics and targeted strategies to counter xenophobic and dehumanising narratives.
• Apply participatory, decolonial, and intercultural methods for narrative‑building.
• Support human‑rights monitoring and documentation to inform advocacy.
• Maintain the editorial calendar, monitor activities, and produce impact reports.
• Coordinate with the Philadelphia Communications Department to ensure brand consistency and protocol compliance.
• Collaborate on program pillars related to reintegration pathways and evidence‑based advocacy.
• Strengthen team capacity and contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems.

Required profile

• Experience in developing and managing communications strategies for social‑justice issues.
• Familiarity with forced migration, climate‑driven mobility, and decolonial approaches.
• Ability to work remotely and travel across Latin America and the Caribbean.
• Strong analytical skills for diagnostics, reporting, and evidence‑based advocacy.
