School Nurse – Student Health Care

About the role

The school is seeking a qualified Nurse to provide first‑aid, clinical care, and health promotion for students throughout the school day. The role involves managing acute and chronic conditions, supporting wellbeing initiatives, and ensuring a safe health environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑aid and nursing care to students, assess and monitor health conditions.
• Administer medications according to prescriptions, parental consent and school policy.
• Maintain individual health care plans for students with allergies, asthma, diabetes, etc.
• Promote healthy habits, hygiene and support nutrition, mental‑health and personal‑care education.
• Implement infection‑control measures and other preventive health protocols.
• Identify and report safeguarding concerns, working with the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
• Communicate health information to parents, teachers and external providers while maintaining confidentiality.
• Keep accurate health records, document incidents and support audits.
• Respond to medical emergencies, activate protocols and assist in emergency‑response planning.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with a valid licence.
• Degree or diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Experience in school, pediatric or community nursing, including medication administration and chronic‑condition management.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child‑protection principles.
