Senior Backend Software Engineer (PHP)

About the role

MedTrainer is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer with deep PHP expertise to design, build, and maintain high‑performance services that power its compliance platform for healthcare organizations. The role involves close collaboration with product, design and other engineering teams to translate complex requirements into reliable, scalable code.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive architecture decisions for backend initiatives, ensuring scalability and long‑term platform health.
• Break down large product requirements into clear technical tasks and specifications.
• Write clean, compliant code and lead peer code reviews to mentor mid‑level engineers.
• Research emerging frameworks and recommend strategic refactoring or upgrades.
• Own end‑to‑end bug investigations, from root‑cause analysis to production deployment.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to validate requirements and contribute to a reusable component ecosystem.
• Maintain transparent communication about progress, risks and solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent, or comparable professional experience.
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience with PHP frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony.
• Proven ability to work in structured Agile environments and deliver high‑quality software with minimal supervision.
