Senior Clinical Data Science Lead

About the role

ICON, a global healthcare intelligence and clinical research organisation, is hiring a Senior Clinical Data Science Lead for its Full-Service IOD Clinical Data Science team. The role is the main contact for internal and external team members on clinical data science data review activities and ensures data delivered is fit for analysis, on time, to high quality and to agreed financial metrics. It is available in Mexico or Colombia, on a remote or hybrid basis.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee the timeliness of clinical data science activities across the study life cycle, covering data review and data delivery milestones.
• Give input to clinical system development and clinical risk management activities.
• Keep functional managers and project managers informed of issues affecting target dates, scope or budget, and escalate problems promptly.
• Forecast budget, hours and resourcing for clinical data review activities.
• Perform analytic reviews focused on errors that matter for subject safety or the interpretation of the final analysis.
• Own the planning documents for data review, data analytics and data deliverables.
• Take part in sponsor and third-party audits.
• Negotiate timelines and deliverables with clients, vendors and departments, and travel approximately 15% domestically and internationally.

Required profile

• 5+ years of clinical data management experience in a clinical research organisation or pharmaceutical company.
• 2+ years of experience in a clinical research organisation (CRO).
• Experience as a functional lead of several low to moderately complex studies, supporting less experienced colleagues.
• Bachelor's degree or local equivalent; an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
• Fluent English and the host country language.

Required skills

• Full knowledge of the data science lifecycle and most major data science study tasks.
• Proficiency in at least one clinical data management system (e.g. Medidata Rave, Inform, Oracle Clinical, Veeva).
• Data analytic and data validation experience.
• Budget and timeline management experience.
