Senior Legal Counsel – LATAM (Mexico, Hybrid/Remote)

About the role

Reap is seeking its first Legal Counsel in Mexico to join the in‑house legal team. You will support Reap’s LATAM operations by handling corporate and commercial matters, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing pragmatic legal advice in a fast‑moving fintech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including B2B contracts, SaaS licences, API licensing, payment network agreements (e.g., Visa) and strategic partnerships.
• Maintain corporate governance for Mexican entities, keep corporate records up to date and coordinate with external counsel as needed.
• Navigate multi‑jurisdictional regulatory frameworks for payments, digital assets and data privacy, and assist in obtaining and maintaining financial licences.
• Provide day‑to‑day legal advice on operational, product and strategic issues.
• Collaborate closely with product, finance, compliance and risk teams to assess legal risks and implement business‑aligned solutions.

Required profile

• LLB, JD or equivalent with a licence to practice law in Mexico.
• At least 5 years of post‑qualification experience in corporate/commercial law.
• In‑house experience in a start‑up, fintech or web3 environment is a plus.
• Business‑level fluency in Spanish and English; Portuguese is a strong advantage.
• Familiarity with Mexican regulations governing payments, financial products and virtual assets.
• Strong project‑management skills, attention to detail and ability to handle competing priorities.
• Self‑starter who can work independently and thrive in ambiguous situations.
