Senior Quality Engineer

About the role

Johnson Controls is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to lead its Quality Engineering team. The role focuses on driving quality excellence, problem solving and process improvements, overseeing Quality Engineers and implementing quality processes while driving continuous improvement to raise product quality and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Quality Engineers, monitor their activities and ensure quality processes are implemented effectively.
• Lead complex problem-solving initiatives using 8D, Root Cause Analysis and Design of Experiments, working with cross-functional teams.
• Drive Kaizen initiatives to improve quality processes, reduce waste and increase efficiency.
• Track quality metrics such as customer claims, reworks and scrap, and report regularly to management.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering and supply chain teams, and communicate with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain compliance with quality management systems (e.g. ISO 9001) and keep documentation up to date.
• Review, update control plans and PFMEAs based on manufacturing processes and customer claims, and support APQP and Core Tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality or a related field.
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in quality engineering or a related role, with more than 3 years in leadership.
• Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
• Certification in quality engineering (CQE, etc.) or Six Sigma is a plus.
• Preferred: experience with chiller products or similar industries (HVAC, refrigeration).

Required skills

• Problem-solving and analytical skills, including 8D, Root Cause Analysis and Design of Experiments.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Preferred: FMEA, Control Plans, Statistical Process Control and quality management system implementation.
