Senior Scientist III - Analytical Chemistry (Fragrance)

About the role

IFF, a global leader in flavors, fragrances, food ingredients and health & biosciences, is hiring a Senior Scientist (Scientist III) for its Scent business in Tlalnepantla, Mexico. The role is on site in a state-of-the-art analytical laboratory focused on fragrance science, where advanced technologies generate insights that shape the fragrance portfolio and AI-driven innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform fragrance extraction from consumer products using diverse techniques
• Run GC/MS for fragrance profiling and raw material characterization
• Operate and maintain high-throughput analytical workflows and robotic systems to speed up data generation
• Provide large, uniform data sets ready for correlation, insights and market understanding
• Support AI-driven fragrance design with structured, high-quality data and help drive automation strategies
• Contribute to IP development and present findings to cross-functional teams

Required profile

• Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry or a closely related field (PhD preferred)
• At least 7 years in analytical chemistry within fragrance, consumer goods, biotech, pharma or related industries
• Proven ability to design experiments and solve complex analytical challenges
• Strong knowledge of fragrance composition, essential oils, aroma chemicals and specialty bases
• Ability to work independently and manage several projects at once
• Excellent written and verbal communication in Spanish and English

Required skills

• GC/MS operation and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with automation, robotics and high-throughput analytical systems
• Advanced data processing, interpretation and management
